we should start talking about food and environment democracy and join the movement which is already going on in USA and Canada.

Drinking milk is cruel - it’s also unnatural. Only humans drink it after weaning – and milk from a different species, at that. It’s no more natural than drinking badger’s milk or cat’s milk. Designed for calves, many humans find milk hard to digest and the result is allergies. Hormones in milk are linked to ovarian, breast and prostate cancer, as well as juvenile-onset diabetes. The saturated fat, cholesterol and animal protein it contains are linked to many other diseases.

From joseph@josephoreilly.com
We should also be encouraging people to eat less meat. Intensive animal production for human consumption is entirely unsustainable.

We have a little farm with a lot of animals; we love them all: but we got a problem! We have no place anymore. So many horses, dogs, pigs, hens, turkeys wourld wait-but: our door is closed. Has somebody an idea? we are leaving in Bavaria, near Danube-stream. Thank You for thinking with us...Fredy & Annamaria ove them, but we get more and more in trouble: we have no place anymore. So many horses,so many pigs, and so on...

School milk is vital for deprived children - 4 million inthe UK alone - to attain peak bone mass. Why is this vital subsidy being reduced in level due to the CAP reforms? I am astonished that animal rights supporters seem to hold sway in Europe and appear to influence public health policy.

I am astonished that you believe milk is safe and health giving. It causes breast cancer,is implicated in various other cancers and contributes to osteoporosis.Milk cannot be absorbed into bone building due to the animal protein.Read, among many other studies Professor Jane Plant.

hi i'm from romania ..do you have branches here too?? we are not yet in the european union!! but we want to be healty as well..

From kenneth@animalrightsmalta.com
I agree with most of your policy on food safety, though I feel what's missing is any mention of a vegetarian diet being a healthy alternative to meat-eating, let alone a healthier one.

I am constantly requesting companies to label their products with recycle information (UK) but because they do not have too, coupled with the poor facilities and extra costs they do not. I would like to see EU wide legislation to make it mandatory for all companies to label all components (namely plastics) with recycle information. Companies like The Co-Op supermarket and Body Shop already do. Everything from sweet packets to fridges and bottles, they symbols are already used on many packing but legislation to make it mandatory would be superb.

I am from Bulgaria but I currently live in Ireland. I can say that in both countries we have our bad and good habits when it comes to choose a tipe of food. But in Ireland there is a big lack of activities among the children. As a result the risk of obesity among youngsters is biger here. There is a huge need for sport program in irish education. The other I want to suggest is that all the varieties of "junk food" should be labeled as "dangerous for your health". I strongly support your campaign and I think that you are going into the right direction.

Finally I can exhale in relief , long enough to actually eat something without the continuous fear in the back of my mind of " Bionic Chickens " ( reaching maturity in less time than it takes to boil an egg ) , " Glow in the dark fish " ( My ancestors read by candle-light , I read by the warm glow of anything caught in the Irish Sea ) , " Self-Nutralising Fruit & Vegetable " ( where I hope that the anti-oxidants they contain just about cancel out any harmful effects of the pesticides used in their production ) . I could go on ..... but I might just go get something to eat instead , now that I know The Greens are on the case!

Im from green youth norway and I wonder, where is the vegetarian food?! Only advertisment for dead animal carcasses here!

From john4tee@msn.com
I believe that all packaging should go back to source. If this were enforced, food products could not 'travel' and therefore would be produced, sold and consumed locally, which will in turn lead to competitive quality, market driven pricing, and satisfied customers.

The cards is hillarious, this is the best campaign ever. I think this will attract many people and the campaign can be nothing but a success.

Excellent campaign! Very straight forward! - we have been organising committees and drawing up reports for a long time - now it is time to act. I urge the members of the Federation of Young European Greens (FYEG) to take on this campaign and help to make it a success! - Natalie Debono, Communications, FYEG.

From pressestelle@bmvel.bund.de
"I really like the campaign. Food safety and consumer protection are core European issues that concern many people on a daily basis. This campaign directly addresses European consumers and should stimulate a lot of interest. Good luck to the campaign and to everyone involved!" - Renate Künast, German Federal Minister for Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture
